Virtual training available to help identify invasive species

Donna Coffey, PLPA Invasive Species Committee Chair – The APIPP (Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program) has a virtual training to help lake residents identify and track aquatic invasive species in our lakes. Registration is now open for this training. The link is below.  There will also be an in-person training on July 15 at Lake Luzerne .

The registration for that training has not been opened yet. You can find information on that training at the APIPP website. The Pecks Lake Aquatic Invasive Species Committee is encouraging any interested lake residents to register for one of the trainings so we can begin to monitor the lake.

It is critical that we track existing and new species in order to keep Pecks Lake as pristine as possible. Only through ongoing tracking can we come up with solutions to existing and potential issues with invasive species in the lake.  Please let us know if you complete the training so we can form a team to develop a plan to survey the lake later this summer and summers to come.

You can contact Donna by emailing her at [email protected]
