Docks in Soon, Stay Clear of Site of Snowmobile Tragedy

PECK’S LAKE – The process of putting the docks back in the lake has begun. According to the Peck’s, crews have been working on getting the docks back in the water. They will be starting at Holiday Point and working their way down the lake. With the warmer weather and the ice out, crews have been able to start earlier this year according to the Peck’s.

You should be seeing docks in the water shortly.

With the docks being placed soon, we know that some people will be putting their boats in, and we know that some boats are in the water already. Please be mindful that the hazard buoys won’t be in the lake until mid-May. Also, there is a life-jacket floating in the water at the East end of the lake. DO NOT REMOVE and STAY CLEAR.

Thanks to Tom Bielli for the map and picture below and for alerting us to this hazard.

Approximate location of the submerged snowmobile
Life Preserver serving as a marker for the submerged snowmobile

The life-jacket is a marker for the submerged snowmobile that sank in the lake over the winter, and where a young man tragically lost his life. It is tethered to approximately 50 feet of line. So, again, PLEASE USE CAUTION and give it a wide berth.

Arrangements are being made to remove the snowmobile(s) from the lake, though we don’t have any information on when that might happen. We will update the lake community when we know more.
