The hazard buoys were deployed today (Saturday, May 16) in the lake. The map below shows their location. (click here for printable pdf version) As a reminder, these are placed to identify known hazards, and failure to keep a safe distance from them is at your own peril.

Last summer , there were at least 5 incidents of boaters traveling through the large marked off area near the entrance to Beaver Bay.(labeled “danger shallows” on map) These unfortunate boaters either grounded their boats and required assistance to free themselves, or had to get towed back to the marina due to a damaged prop caused by hitting a rock. Either way, it spoiled what was expected to be a pleasant outing on the lake.
If you see a runaway buoy, (we do have some troublemakers and repeat offenders) please pick it up and return it to the Marina, or contact either John Dackow 518-858-0217 or Clif Wassel 518-461-0714 and let them know where it is located. A few final tweaks and installs will be done in the upcoming days, and as water levels change.
